Poolside – Do You Believe (2011)

What a smooth jam. Jeffrey Paradise is a hella friendly dude. BLOW UP was a regular celebration of electronic music that happened at the Rickshaw Stop in SF for a number of years, and in fact I believe it is still going. Bonus image of Mark after the jump.

Maurice Ravel – Miroirs (1905)

Impressionist piano piece, really cool, and covers a lot of ground. Check out the video description, which breaks down the 5 movements into what they represent.

ELO – Yours Truly, 2095 (1981)

I think I’ve finally discovered (no pun intended) the reason I can’t get into the new Daft Punk record (besides generally losing the ability to enjoy music in the past year), and that is because ELO beat them to the punch 32 years ago. The subject matter is way cooler too, a guy unwillingly entravels to futular time and various hijinks ensue, such as this scenario about the guy dating a robot babe. It should be noted that in keeping with the general motif of this blog as of late/always, this song came out during the aforementioned “Lost Levels” era of the musical Anglosphere, 1981. Side note, you could turn the outro chord stabs starting at 3:21 into a banger of some sort.
